COVID-19 – LET’S ALL PULL TOGETHER AND DO THE RIGHT THING IN READING

The current situation regarding the outbreak of Coronavirus is unprecedented and the way we live our lives is changing day by day, perhaps for a considerable amount of time. Her is Reading we need to all do our part to make sure we do the right thing – for ourselves, for our friends and family, for our neighbours and for our communities.

We would like to urge people to follow the advice being issued by central Government – this advice is for everyone’s protection, to help the NHS and to save lives.  Staying at home should be everyone’s first priority in any situation now.  The Government are working around the clock to work out the right response and things are changing daily.  We urge people to stay updated with the latest information via the Government website at www.gov.uk– do not rely on media source alone.

We understand the incredible challenges that the situation presents to everyone and everyone’s circumstances will be different.  The Government has already announced measures to support businesses and people and clearly there is more to come.  As Chancellor Rishi Sunak made clear this week – the Government will do whatever it takes.  We just ask people to be patient whilst they work through the detail.

If anyone needs help at any point – whether you are self-isolating with symptoms or otherwise – please reach out to someone: friends, neighbours, relatives – together we can make with work. There are a variety of support groups now establishing across Reading, including the new One Reading Community hub. We urge people to use these networks if they need to. Details of these can be found on Facebook or online.  If you need advice please reach out to our group via email (office@readingeastconservatives.com) and we will point you in the right direction.

Working together – as we so often have shown in Reading before – will help us to beat this virus.
