Greg Hands MP addresses Reading East Business Club

Greg Hands MP spoke at Rob Wilson's recent Portcullis Club lunchtime seminar and local business people had the chance to quiz both Mr Hands and Rob Wilson on key economic issues.The Portcullis Club provides a forum for local business people to hear the views of influential policymakers and to put questions on key economic and business matters. It's a valuable opportunity to discuss crucial business issues affecting Reading’s economy with your MP and other business people. 

Rob's 4th Reading Job Fair

Rob Wilson MP, with event sponsor National Careers Advice Service and partners Jobcentre Plus and Reading UK CIC, is aiming to recreate the success of the previous three job fairs, each of which attracted more than 1,800 job hunters in search of new opportunities. A host of big name companies offering 1,000s of new jobs have already signed up to the 4th Reading Job Fair, including Grosvenor Casino and John Lewis who joined the Reading East MP to launch the fair at the Penta Hotel on Friday.

Rob Wilson MP Leads Campaign For Town Centre Investment

Rob Wilson, MP for Reading East, has submitted applications to the Department for Communities and Local Government for Reading and Woodley to become ‘Town Team Partners’. The move, which follows the unsuccessful bids for the Portas Pilots scheme earlier this year, means Reading and Woodley could both clinch £10,000 from the Government to spend on their original proposals in the bid.

What’s going on with Council Tax Benefit?

Council Tax Benefit is being localised and it will be for authorities such as Reading Borough Council to help incentivise everyone capable of working to find employment.  Reducing their benefits by 10% and assisting those who most need it is part of that policy.  Conservatives recognise that borrowing and profligate State spending helped get us into this economic recession. A return to sound public finances is vital to the recovery.

Reading East MP Rob Wilson is moving with Jeremy Hunt to the Department of Health. Mr Hunt was given the position of Health Secretary in David Cameron's Cabinet reshuffle yesterday.Rob has been parliamentary private secretary to Mr Hunt for the last two years of his time as Culture Secretary.
